Pokemon was a game that exploded onto the scene with its first GameBoy release. In an industry that is dominated by action and adventure shooters, Pokemon focused on companionship and a love of all creatures. The concept resonated so much with gamers that the franchise grew to encompass more than just its original RPG style of gameplay.
Pokemon Snap focused on taking pictures while a game like Pokemon Puzzle League was nothing more than a simple puzzler centered around Pokemon. The franchise showed a softer side of gaming can also be successful. Here’s a list of other games that Pokemon fans may enjoy.

The Sims
Pokemon is more than just a simple game. It’s a lifestyle. People can completely immerse themselves in the world of Pokemon from top to bottom. And this goes beyond real life. Within the game itself, people can decorate and organize their avatars according to their love for Pokemon.
And in the game like The Sims, which is pretty much a simulated life, players can also decorate their entire house and pursue any kind of career. This kind of simulated life is similar to what people experience in the world of Pokemon.

Lemmings
Lemmings is a fairly old game that was pretty puzzle-oriented. The general concept of the game is that the player has to rescue lemmings across a level and then have them follow the player to safety. The game requires a lot of strategy and patience.
It’s also all about herding the NPC lemmings into different areas of the level so that they can escape. While Pokemon doesn’t necessarily follow this model, there’s something about having little creatures follow the player around that will resonate with Pokémon fans.
9
Animal Crossing
Animal Crossing is described as a social simulation thing. And in many ways, so is Pokemon. Animal Crossing is slightly different as it is way more focused on lifestyle than Pokemon is, as it focuses much more on action and setting up an RPG adventure.
Still, there’s a whimsical nature to Pokemon that involves catching and nurturing lovable creatures, even if they do have strange abilities. This will resonate with Animal Crossing fans as they are used to living in a world with other anthropomorphic animals. For Pokemon fans that are looking for something a bit more relaxed, Animal Crossing will do.

Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo’s Dungeon
It’s tough to remember sometimes that Pokemon is first and foremost a fantasy game. And in the realm of fantasy RPG, the Final Fantasy franchise arguably still reigns supreme. There’s even an argument to be made that their lovable mascot, the Chocobo, was the first Pokemon.
It’s a large flightless bird that is cute both as a baby and a rideable creature. So it’s no surprise that a game focused on Chocobo would appeal to Pokemon fans. The gameplay is a bit different, but there’s still plenty of overlap to enjoy.

Yu-Gi-Oh!

![Yugi Moto summoning Black Luster Solider in Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel]()
The strange thing about Pokemon is that it’s all-encompassing. Besides the standard Pokemon RPG games of trying to capture Pokemon and do battle with other trainers, there are Pokemon puzzle games, Pokemon safari games, and even Pokemon card games.
This goes beyond the simple real-life Pokemon card game in that there’s an actual video game with trainers playing the Pokemon TCG. Yu-Gi-Oh! is a perfect match for fans of playing Pokemon cards as it’s all about outwitting your opponent with strategy and patience.
5
Beasts Of Maravilla Island
Beasts Of Maravilla Island is a strange game in that it’s more of an experience. The player wanders around a fantasy island, encountering strange beasts and different environments that they live in. There’s no real challenge to the game.
Instead, the main purpose is to photograph the creatures and document them in a journal. In this regard, the game is very similar to Pokemon Snap, which is all about photographing Pokemon on a safari. It’s a relatively simple kind of adventure, but one that will absolutely appeal to Pokemon fans.
4
Digimon World: Next Order
It’s hard to find a more comparable series to Pokemon than Digimon. This is in large part due to both of the franchises’ animes, which rose in popularity around the same time. Of course, there are many different elements between the two. For one, Digimon can talk.
Trainers also typically have a designated Digimon rather than a roster of Pokemon to choose from. But both Digimon and Pokemon can evolve. This feature forms a backbone of the stories and carries over into both of their games.
3
Pikmin
Besides having similar-sounding names, Pikmin and Pokémon are similar on an aesthetic and surface level. From a game-place standpoint, they are quite different. Pikmin is essentially a real-time puzzle game that has the player navigate Pikmin through the world while avoiding obstacles.
This is different than Pokemon’s RPG elements, but the appeal of controlling a herd of tiny characters that follow the player’s every move can be appealing to fans of Pokemon that love collecting cute creatures. So although their styles are different, there is a similar feeling between them.
2
Cassette Beasts
It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that Cassette Beasts would wind up on a list of similar games to Pokemon granted that Pokemon was an actual inspiration for the game. There are tons of similarities between the two, the primary one being that the player has to tame beasts and then go out in an open world and do battle with them.
There are a number of differences, one being the story that involves the main character trying to return to Earth. Also, the character can inhabit the beasts that he tames.
1
Slime Rancher
Slime Rancher is a strange game that is very unique in a lot of ways. The title pretty much describes what the game is all about. The player lives in a world where various slime creatures roam about, and it’s the player’s job to catch them and pretty much raise them in a ranch.
Fundamentally, it’s fairly different from Pokemon in that the rancher doesn’t use the slime to battle. But for players that love the animal camaraderie with Pokemon, Slime Rancher is absolutely perfect.
