Third time’s a charm for Rodeo All-Star Weekend

Friday-Saturday. This year is the third try for Rodeo All-Star Weekend, the 9-year-old competitive series that ties various professional rodeo circuits together into a weekend of bronc riding, barrel racing, mutton bustin’ and — debuting in Denver this year — women’s breakaway roping.

The Friday, April 15-Saturday, April 16, shows at the National Western Center arrive after cancellations in 2020 and 2021, and this time looks to be the charm, with two rounds of semifinals, a concert and after-party from country artist Wade Bowen, and Saturday’s Lunch with Champions ($7-$18) and finals competition. $44-$130 per event. 1515 E. 47th Ave. Call 888-551-5004 or visit rodeoallstar.com for packages, kid-friendly add-ons and more.

Margaret “Molly” Brown fans: Don’t be fooled!

Friday. Capitol Hill’s lavish, painstakingly restored Molly Brown House Museum isn’t just one of Denver’s best-known tourist attractions. It’s also one of the few places in Colorado where you can mark the 110th anniversary of the Titanic’s sinking with actual historical artifacts.

That’s worth noting, said Historic Denver, which owns and runs the museum belonging to the Titanic heroine and influential Denver activist and socialite. A recent auction of Brown’s supposed artifacts is missing the substantiating markers and documentation necessary for authentication, staffers said, so buyer beware.

In the meantime, you can see things like the “ushabti,” a featured object in “The Heroine of the Titanic,” which runs through Sept. 25. Mattiel’s “Georgia Gothic” in Denver

Wednesday. Atlanta act Mattiel, driven by frontwoman Mattiel Brown, has a new album on ATO Records, “Georgia Gothic,” and a  tour that brings the enigmatic indie-Americana act to Denver next week.

Part lockstep propulsion and part moody, mossy melodies, Mattiel is unerringly tight and spooky, with left-field lyrics and Brown’s uniquely warbling voice. The band plays Globe Hall on Wednesday, April 20 (note: it’s not a weed-themed show) and tickets are $15. With Silver and Smoke and DARKARTS. Doors at 7 p.m. at 4483 Logan St. globehall.com
