With production costs estimating to be around a whopping ₹410 crores, Brahmastra is touted as one of the most expensive Indian films. Many producers such as Karan Johar, Ayan Mukerji, and Ranbir Kapoor have come together to helm the making of the film.

The film took around five years to shoot. Principal photography commenced in 2018 and finished in 2022.

While the film is set in Mumbai, Varanasi, and the Himalayas, it was filmed in several locations including London, Bulgaria, Edinburgh, New York, and Thailand.

The film has been released in five languages — Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, and Malayalam. SS Rajamouli is the one steering the film presentation for Southern India.

Brahmastra’s visual effects have been provided by DNEG, a British-Indian studio that has also worked on movies like Dune and Inception.

Both the film and Ranbir’s character are heavily inspired by Rumi, the 13th century Persian poet.

And lastly, Brahmastra is part of a trilogy series, which in turn is a part of Ayan Mukerji’s Astraverse.
