12 Superb Photos of San Diego Wave FC Captain Alex Morgan in St. Lucia

The professional soccer player has been featured in three separate SI Swimsuit Issues.

San Diego Wave FC striker Alex Morgan is both a two-time Olympic medalist and a repeat SI Swimsuit model. Morgan made her debut in 2012 when she participated in a body paint feature with photographer Kayt Jones and makeup artist Joanne Gair. She returned to the magazine two years later after posing for Adam Franzino in Guana Island, British Virgin Islands.

Most recently, the 33-year-old professional athlete and mom landed the cover in 2019 after traveling to St. Lucia with shutterbug Ben Watts. Her teammates Megan Rapinoe, Crystal Dunn and Abby Dahlkemper were also featured in the publication that year.

“This shoot was really exciting, being able to select my teammates and then being able to select like my own swimsuits, as well,” Morgan said at the time. “Having more control makes me feel good and makes me get across exactly what I want to.”

The soccer star was in her element as she kicked a ball around during her photo shoot, which she admitted left her a bit sore after the fact. She also noted that taking a look at the monitor after each image was captured fueled her creativity for the next one.

“I feel like this issue has just become more of like a body positivity movement and I think that that’s just women standing up for each other more than we’ve ever done before,” Morgan stated.
