Neither Patrick Beverley nor Russell Westbrook finished the season on the Los Angeles Lakers, but both guards are rooting for their former team to win the championship and award them rings.
On a recent episode of his podcast, Beverley revealed that Westbrook told his ex-teammate he wants hardware if the Lakers capture a title. Beverely concurred.
“Russ goes, ‘Hey Pat, if the Lakers win, I want my ring.’ … I ain’t going to lie, Russ. We’re going to be suited and booted. I’m going to be right there waiting for my ring,” Beverley said.

Acquired last offseason from the Utah Jazz, Beverley’s Lakers tenure lasted 45 games. He averaged 6.4 points before getting shipped to the Orlando Magic, who waived the 34-year-old veteran.
Beverley, who finished the season with the Chicago Bulls, claimed he requested a trade from Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, the Lakers sent Westbrook to Utah in a three-team deal that brought them back D’Angelo Russell. After Utah bought him out, the former MVP returned to L.A. to play for the Clippers.
While Westbrook’s Lakers career ended with him struggling in a bench role, he averaged 18.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 7.4 assists in a first-round loss to the Phoenix Suns.
Both spectators now, Westbrook and Beverley won’t compete for their first championship this summer. However, they’re hoping the Lakers can win it all and give them rings.
Given all the deadline deals they made, the Lakers would need to make a lot of rings if accommodating anyone who suited up for them this season.
The Lakers jumped to a 1-0 lead in their second-round series against the Golden State Warriors. They’ll play Game 2 on Thursday night at 9 p.m. ET.
