NBA expansion seems to be an inevitability at this point. And during Adam Silver’s latest update on Monday afternoon, the commissioner confirmed that the league is “heavily considering” the idea of adding more teams over the next few years.
“We will turn to expansion once those new media deals are done,” Silver said. “It’s not a sure thing but, as I’ve said before, I think it’s natural that organizations grow over time.”
Adam Silver comes closest he has yet to saying NBA expansion is near. Says there will be "a very open process."

Las Vegas and Seattle were two cities Silver mentioned in particular as potential destinations for the league. Noting, he’s heard the noise about bringing back the SuperSonics.
“There’s no doubt there’s enormous interest in Seattle,” he admitted. “That’s not a secret.”
The city has been clamoring for the return of their beloved team since the day they left to become the Oklahoma City Thunder 15 years ago.
The NBA hasn’t expanded since adding the Charlotte Bobcats (now the Hornets) back in 2004.
