Two teams have reportedly emerged as interested trade suitors for Kyrie Irving.
The superstar point guard requested a trade away from the Brooklyn Nets on Friday, and he wants it to happen before next week’s trade deadline on Thursday, Feb. 9.
According to veteran NBA insider Marc Stein, the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks are interested in landing Kyrie in a trade deal with the Nets.
The Lakers were already on the hunt for new talent ahead of this year’s trade deadline. Given Kyrie’s previous championship-caliber relationship with LeBron James and doubts about current point guard Russell Westbrook, Los Angeles could be a great fit for the All-Star PG.
The Mavericks are hoping to land an All-Star teammate for Luka Doncic, who’s been carrying the Dallas squad so far this season. As the No. 4 team in the West, the Mavs could be put over the top by an addition like Kyrie.
Kyrie will be a free agent at the end of this season.
