Talking to your car just got easier.
Most 2023 Toyota and Lexus vehicles have an upgraded infotainment system available that works with Google Cloud services to provide voice assistance even when offline.
The partnership with Toyota Audio Multimedia and Lexus Interface means cars like the new Toyota Corolla, Tundra, Sequoia and Lexus NX, RX and electric RZ don’t need an online connection for in-vehicle voice commands. The systems use Google Cloud to bring the processing into the car.
Google calls it “Speech On-Device.” In this case, the device is the car. Toyota is bringing the on-device technology into its next-generation Toyota Voice Assistant across its Toyota and Lexus new vehicle lineup.
This gives access to voice commands all the time, including dead zones and remote areas. It’s based on Google Assistant and Pixel voice systems, which can understand natural language cues. So you don’t have to sound like a robot when seeking information about the nearest coffee shop or charging station.
