There are not much changes done to 2023 Yamaha Nmax 155 – the performance figures of 14.9 bhp and 13.5 Nm are carried over
Diversifying their scooter range is currently the trend that is being carried on by manufacturers. We have ADV-inspired scooters, sporty scooters, funky scooters and even maxi-styled scooters. Yamaha has a fair share of these in both global and Indian markets too. We sure hope Yamaha brings in more of their scooters like Nmax which has been updated to MY2023.
It is a proper maxi-styled scooter with a 155cc engine shared with Yamaha R15, MT-15 and Aerox 155 in India. Unlike Aerox 155 sporty scooter in India, MY2023 Yamaha Nmax 155 is closer to a maxi-style scooter with a tall windscreen and a fuller front fairing. Let’s take a look at all the changes with MY2023 update.
2023 Yamaha Nmax – Design Changes
If you think Yamaha has offered anything different with 2023 update, you would be disappointed. As it is pound-to-pound identical to the outgoing model. What is new, though, are two colour combinations. They are Blue and Red and are the only changes with the MY2023 Yamaha Nmax 155 in the Malaysian market.
We don’t mind the lack of changes, because it is a handsome-looking machine. At the front, it has LED headlights housed in a clear visor-like element with LED DRLs that remind me of Zorro’s mask, for some reason. Above it, is a tall windscreen that is not likely to be adjustable unlike Honda ADV 160.
This gets a fully covered fairing unlike Aerox 155 which gets a separate handlebar element. This makes Nmax 155 more of a maxi-styled scooter than Aerox 155. Most of the body panels are blackened, to reduce visual mass of this scooter. At the rear, there is a chunky grab rail and a neat-looking tail light design as well.
R15 Derived Engine Steals The Show
Nmax is not a step-through scooter and has a massive spine in the center. This robs of practicality and luggage carrying ability at the front. However, this layout is often found in sporty and maxi-styled scooters and is not a deal breaker. Since the fuel tank is now repositioned, it carves out a lot of under seat storage.
Just like most scooters, MY2023 Yamaha Nmax 155 gets a swingarm-mounted engine. Speaking of, it is the same unit as Yamaha YZF-R15 V4, MT-15 and Aerox 155 we get in India. It has a 4V head, and VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) and is liquid-cooled as well. In Nmax 155, Yamaha has detuned this engine, making 14.9 bhp of power and 13.5 Nm of torque.
Will It Be Launched In India?
In Malaysia, MY2023 Yamaha Nmax 155 costs close to RM 9,800. When roughly translated to Indian currency, it turns out to be Rs. 1.83 lakh. If you’re thinking that Yamaha would launch this in India, we would advise you not to hold your breath.
