The 2024 Buick Envista is expected to make its U.S. debut this summer, but there’s no confirmation of it coming to Canada

Last year (yes, we know last year was only a week ago) GM announced the Buick Envista would be making its way to North America — well, maybe not the most northern part of North America, but it’ll be close-ish, as the Envista will be sold in the U.S., at least.

Recently revealed in China as “a compact SUV tailored for China’s young generation and modern families,” as per a General Motors representative, the Envista could be the perfect way for Buick to shake up its lineup here in Canada, especially considering the Encore might be axed.

While there’s still no confirmation of that happening, I did notice Buick Canada’s website is missing any information on a 2023 Encore — even though the Encore GX and other SUVs in the lineup have updated 2023 information. That said, when asked whether we can expect the Envista to come to Canada, a GM rep told us there’s “nothing to announce or confirm at this time.”

Whether we get it or not, spy photographers managed to capture some pictures of the 2024 Buick Envista testing out in Detroit. It’s almost completely undisguised. GM may have tried to hide the fact that this Envista is the ST trim, covering a small piece of the grille, but as seen on the back of the SUV, it’s clearly an ST. It has black exterior accents on the grille, wheels, and rear fascia, after all, all of which really pop on the tester’s red paint.

The only other area that’s covered is right below the Buick badge on the back of the vehicle. Based on the backs of other Buick models that have nothing below their badge, I have no idea what could be hidden under that tape — maybe it’s just me, but I’m seeing something that looks like the outline of a “+” symbol.

Aside from those pictures, we still have little information about the specs of the SUV. As previously reported, the Chinese variant of the Envista has a turbocharged, 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine making 181 horsepower, but the U.S. version could use the 2.0L from the Envision. China’s version also has two 10.25-inch displays and a surround-sound system.

The 2024 Buick Envista is expected to officially debut in the U.S. this summer; keep a lookout for more details on Buick’s newest addition to its lineup.
