Based on the same CMP / eCMP platform as Jeep Avenger, there are rumours in place suggesting Fiat 600 will spawn an ICE variant as well
Jeep unveiled their compact SUV called Avenger recently. It will be offered with a petrol as well as all electric powertrain option. Based on this, Jeep’s cousin Fiat will also be launching a new car, which is currently known as Fiat 600. Prototype of the same has now been spied on for the first time.
2024 Fiat 600 Spied Testing
Both Fiat 600 and Jeep Avenger are underpinned by the same CMP / eCMP platform. They will be similar in dimension as well. This means a length around 4.1m in length and an identical 2,560mm wheelbase to Avenger. Powertrains will be shared too.
Which means Fiat 600 will get 154 bhp and 260 Nm electric motor on front axle. It is likely to cover 250 miles (400 km) from its 54 kWh battery pack. This is the sole powertrain for most markets. But for Spain and Italy, Jeep Avenger comes equipped with a 1.2L three-cylinder petrol engine as well. Similar strategy can be applied to Fiat 600. A 48V strong hybrid powertrain is also on the cards.
New Gen Design For The Modern Buyer
At the front, Fiat 600 dons a clamshell bonnet, split circular LED headlights and DRLs, a smaller grille at the top, mimicking a mustache and a larger grille at the bottom. As a whole, Fiat 600 looks like a slightly larger Fiat 500, which is exactly the case. Being larger, Fiat has now offered rear doors, adding to practicality.
The lower grille houses a module for sensors and radars enabling ADAS tech. Interiors are not entirely visible in spy shots. But there is a 10.23” horizontal infotainment screen and a circular instrument console. Jeep Avenger has a similar sized touchscreen. Being a 4.1m long car, Fiat 600 should offer decent space on the inside.
Existing 500 Lineup
It is interesting to see how a legacy model from a manufacturer like Fiat would evolve. We have witnessed how Mini cars got bigger and bigger with every iteration. For a long time, iconic Fiat 500 model has stayed true to its OG ethos of a 3-door fun small vehicle.
Even though there was a 5-door crossover model rivaling compact SUVs named 500X, Fiat always retained the charm of 500 and will continue to do so in the future. Upcoming Fiat 600 is not a replacement for the iconic Fiat 500. Instead, it will create a bridge between 3-door 500 and 5-door 500X in terms of size.
Fiat 500X’s spiritual successor is rumoured to be in the works and will rival compact SUVs like Kia Seltos and Dacia Duster. Now that the smaller Fiat 600 has broken cover, It is yet to be seen if Fiat will still call it 500X or go for Fiat 700X.
