Walking sandals for women are proving to be quite the summer buy this year. Turns out all those lockdown strolls a few years back have inspired us to continue the exercise, but when it’s a million degrees outside (as it has been recently), the last thing we want to be wearing is a pair of sweaty socks and trainers or boots.
Can you wear sandals on a walk?
It’s all well and good thinking you can turn to your favourite pair of flip flops or some cute summer sandals when you’re heading outside, but you’ll regret it if you’re planning on walking anything higher than a 5k. For all those summer hikes and ‘hot girl walks’ this season, you’ll be wanting a pair of walking sandals and, more importantly, you’ll be wanting a pair that don’t rub.
Performance brands like Teva, Birkenstock and Timberland offer some really stylish options, too, so you needn’t worry about cramping your style. They are the unofficial uniform for hikers and influencers alike at the moment, especially when paired with one of this year’s must-have floaty dresses. Even the designer market has been infiltrated by the ‘dad sandals’ trend – with Alexander McQueen, Christian Louboutin and Loewe leading the way – so it’s high time to invest.
