Joey Alexander
The jazz pianist — who, at the age of 18, has already been nominated for multiple Grammy Awards — has a pair of local gigs on the horizon. First up, Alexander performs at 7:30 p.m. May 6 at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek. Tickets are $37-$62, lesherartscenter.org. The musician also has a 7 p.m. show on May 7 at Kuumbwa Jazz Center in Santa Cruz. Tickets are $34-$68.25, kuumbwajazz.org.
For King & Country
The Grammy-winning Australian pop duo, consisting of siblings Joel and Luke Smallbone, performs May 8 at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento. The platinum-plus-selling act is out on the road in support of its fifth studio album, this year’s “What Are We Waiting For?” Show time is 7 p.m. and tickets are $29.99-$74, ticketmaster.com.
Mountain Goats
The acclaimed SoCal indie-folk-rock act has a date at the Warfield in San Francisco on May 5. The group is supporting not just one, but three albums that were released during the pandemic — “Songs for Pierre Chuvin,” “Getting Into Knives” and “Dark in Here.” Show time is 8 p.m. and tickets are $39.50-$59.50, axs.com.
