5 Marvelous Photos of Swim Search Finalist Amanda Kay in Atlantic City

Amanda Kay is a globetrotter. She was born in Toronto and has lived in Jordan, Egypt, England, Thailand and both Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. At the age of 32, the SI Swim Search finalist took a leap of faith and switched from a career in marketing to modeling. She was skeptical of whether she would make it as a plus size model attempting to succeed in an industry with a history of exclusivity, but also because of electrical burn scars on her arms and legs from an accident that occurred when she was a toddler.

Kay has since modeled for Alo Yoga, Riot Swim, Bala, J.Crew and more big-name brands.

“Still on a high and words cannot explain the joy and overall love that I experienced last week. My @si_swimsuit journey has been nothing but positive from the start,” she captioned an Instagram post about her photo shoot in 2021. “I’ve been surrounded by supportive women throughout this entire journey, from the first time we all met up, to the last. Encouragement, empowerment, and acceptance were at the forefront of every interaction I had with everyone.”

“Making it to the [Swim Search] finals and being able to experience this community in person last week, blew me away,” she continued. “Not only were the women beautiful on the outside but were so sweet from within. I want to thank @mj_day and her team for creating a safe space for everyone to be their authentic selves knowing that they are indeed enough!… And thank you to all the beautiful ladies that I got to experience this journey with. We had a blast! Until next time ❤️❤️❤️.”
