Katherine Ryan has been a favourite of GLAMOUR’s for many a year – and it’s time we broke down exactly why.

As well as being bloody hilarious, Ryan has this incredible talent of completely NAILING what we’ve all been thinking, whether that’s a TV show plotline or a particularly tiring facet of sexism. 

So, to celebrate the woman herself, we have broken down comedian Katherine Ryan’s very best moments, spanning her appearances on 8 Out Of 10 Cats, The Big Fat Quiz and Taskmaster.

When she summed up the plot of Game of Thrones perfectly

Katherine arrived late to the GOT hype, and delivered a rather iconic description of her takeaway when it came to Jon Snow’s relationship with Daenerys.

“She made him bow to her, it was a real Beyoncé move,” she said. “He was turned on by that, and now they’re dating. And he has the power of her dragons and they’re together trying to rule the seven kingdoms.

“There’s violence and there’s incest and there’s nudity, and that’s Game of Thrones. And it’s great.”

When she perfectly described Beyonce’s dancing

Katherine gave some sage thoughts on twerking, saying she prefers Queen B’s dancing. “Beyonce dances powerfully,” she said. “She does it “like you’re gonna sit on a dick and whip it off”. Graphic!

“I think young women should dance like this every time you meet a fresh man,” she suggested. “Because the bad ones they’ll run off – it takes a very strong man not to be intimated by a powerful woman.” Truer words have never been said.

When she smashed a Cardi B rap mashup

On The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan, Katherine blew us all away with her Cardi B-esque rap performance as part of the show’s nursery rhyme segment Nursery Grimes. 

She was tasked with crossing Eenie Meenie Minie Mo with Cardi B’s I Like It Like That, and she was word perfect and full of sass.

Our favourite line from her genius rap? “Man you make my pussy sick, holla at me cos I’m thick, I’m not falling for the tricks.” Obsessed.

When she dressed up as Kris Jenner

Or Quiz Jenner, actually. “Kris Jenner is my Woman of the Year,” she explained on an episode of The Big Fat Quiz. “I love the Kardashians, they’re a matriarchy of shape-shifting sisters who destroy men… it’s very much a sci-fi programme, I’m into it.”

We are totally here for this take on the Kardashians, as well as Katherine’s iconic outfit portraying Kris, oversized sunglasses and all.

When she demanded that we checked our privilege

During a segment on 8 Out Of 10 Cats where the comedians looked at old Olympics sporting kit, Katherine asked host Jimmy Carr: “What did the women get to wear Olympics for the Olympics, Jimmy?”

Carr responded with a joke about women’s “unmentionables”, but Katherine was already there with a quippy, political point.

“No they weren’t allowed to compete in the Olympics,” she responded. “So let’s take a moment to check our privilege.”

Damn straight, girl! 

When she got real, frank and hilarious about the man she chose to settle down with

Ryan spoke about her civil partnership to Bobby Kootstra, who she has described as her childhood sweetheart as they went to school together.

“I don’t really date anyone, and then I just went back to the boyfriend I had when I was fifteen because… I f**cked everyone else,” she said. “I liked him the best, isn’t that annoying?”
