$74,000 To Travel Like James Bond? Eon Grants 60 People Official Rights

If you’ve ever wanted to ski down the same slopes as James Bond does in Spectre or take a speedboat along the river Thames as he did in The World Is Not Enough, the company behind all 25 official Bond films, Eon Productions, has granted rights to one company to offer James Bond holidays across Europe in the places where they were filmed.

There are 31 experiences on offer from the company Black Tomato, including a 12-night trip across London, Paris, Monaco, Lake Como, Venice and the Austrian Alps in what is being called The Assignment. This is the most luxurious trip, costing $74,000.

There are also other experiences, starting at $15,000, where fans can speak to the people involved in making the films over the years. For example, fans could climb the Eiffel Tower and ask questions of actress Carole Ashby, who starred in Octopussy and A View To A Kill, about her time working on the sets with Roger Moore (the latter was filmed in part on the famous structure). Or you could quiz Lee Morrisson, who has been a stuntman on the Bond sets since Casino Royale, on the tricks behind the best Bond falls and escapes.

Black Tomato co-founder Tom Marchant has spent a long time orchestrating these experiences by bringing together crafts people and artists who worked on the movies. Previously, Marchant has had success crafting journeys that follow the books of Agatha Christie and he believes that these experiences offer the chance to “bring proximity to 007 in a way that hasn’t been done before.”

It is also possible to view the most famous props with Eon archivist Meg Simmonds, who could show you Oddjob’s metal-rimmed bowler hat from Goldfinger, the Fabergé eggs that feature heavily in the plot for Octopussy and of course, Scaramanga’s famous golden gun from The Man With The Golden Gun.

Many of the people involved in the experiences have worked on multiple Bond films, such as oscar-winning special effects coordinator, Chris Corbould, who you could travel to meet at the summit of Mount Gaislachkogl. This is where James Bond meets Madeleine Swann in Spectre.

Corbould won his oscar for No Time To Die and has been working on special effects for the Bond franchise since 1995’s Goldeneye, which starred Pierce Brosnan. It was also Corbould who designed how to sink the building in Venice in Casino Royale, where Vesper Lynd—one of the loves of James Bond’s life—dies in the elevator.

Of course, no self-respecting James Bond fan would be happy without a ride in an Aston Martin DB5, Bond’s signature car, and there is a tour around Whitehall—home to the British government—in London.

There is also the chance to play poker at the Casino de Monte-Carlo with Andreas Daniel, a professional poker player and the person who dealt the cards in the game played throughout Casino Royale.

Only 60 people will be able to take up the offer as the partnership has been put in place on a temporary basis to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the release of the first James Bond movie, Dr No.

Whilst MGM, who own the film rights, was recently sold to Amazon for $8.5 billion, it is Eon who retains creative control over the franchise and who are searching for a new actor to play James Bond since Daniel Craig stepped down after the most recent and 25th official film, No Time To Die.
