Despite some extra time to rest between rounds, Joel Embiid has been listed as “doubtful” for tomorrow’s Game 1 matchup against the Boston Celtics.
The Philadelphia center suffered a knee injury during Game 3 of the team’s first round series and was unable to take the court as the 76ers completed the sweep over the Brooklyn Nets in Game 4.
Embiid didn’t take the court for any activity on Saturday.
“If I’m a betting man, I would say he’s doubtful,” head coach Doc Rivers said, per NBA insider Tim Bontemps.
Doc Rivers says Joel Embiid didn’t do anything today, and “if he’s a betting man, would say he’s doubtful” for Game 1.

Embiid is dealing with a “sprained lateral collateral ligament” on his right knee. While he was initially listed as “questionable,” it appears he hasn’t made enough progress to take the court tomorrow evening.
If the Sixers want any chance of taking down the powerhouse Celtics in the conference semi-finals, they’ll need their MVP frontrunner to be in the mix.
Tomorrow’s Game 1 will tipoff at 7:30 p.m. ET.
