Breanna Stewart can do it all. The two-time Olympic gold medalist participated in a first-of-its-kind group photo shoot in St. Thomas for the SI Swimsuit Issue last year. She and fellow WNBA athletes Sue Bird, DiDi Richards, Nneka Ogwumike and Te’a Cooper posed for photographer Laretta Houston in the tropical climate.

Although Stewart has won two WNBA titles with the Seattle Storm (in 2018 and ’20), the forward announced she would be signing with the New York Liberty last month. She was selected by the Storm as the No. 1 pick in the 2016 WNBA draft and later was named the league’s Rookie of the Year.

The New York native told SI Swimsuit that the first thing people often notice about her is how tall she is—Stewart stands 6′4″. She also recalled feeling self-conscious as a teenager because of her height.

“That’s when I really started my evolution of being comfortable in my own skin, of being confident in my body and realizing that being different doesn’t have to be a bad thing,” she stated.

She went on to add that beauty means being comfortable in your own skin, having self-confidence and loving your body just the way it is.

“There’s so many things that make us all different,” she said. “There’s only one of me. I’m one of one, and just loving every aspect of that.”

Below are eight of our favorite photos from Stewart’s 2022 photo shoot in St. Thomas.
