Playing his maiden IPL season, the England batter Brook first hit a maiden half-century and then went on to convert it into a century off 55 balls. The SRH opener carried his bat through the innings and smashed 12 fours and three sixes during his whirlwind knock.
Brook’s unbeaten 100 propelled Sunrisers to a massive 228/4 against KKR on the board after being asked to bat.
Bought by SRH for a whopping Rs 13.25 crore, Brook had managed only 29 in first three games but found his rhythm with a 55-ball-100 as he smashed 12 fours and three sixes.
Having got a reprieve on 45, when he was dropped by rookie leg-spinner Suyash Sharma an easy chance off his own bowling, Englishman got to his 50 off 32 balls.
Brook also overturned a caught-behind decision off Lockie Ferguson when on 61, as he hammered the Kiwi fiery pacer in the same over five fours, en route to the first century of the season, which came off a single off Umesh Yadav in the final over.
“I’ve had a bit of trouble with spin, but I wanted to use the powerplay to my advantage. So (in the) middle overs I wanted to rotate strike and let the other boys do the hitting. It is a belter of a pitch,” Brook said.
“My girlfriend is here but the rest of my family have just left. I’m sure they’ll all be very happy for me.”
