MANILA, Philippines–Justin Brownlee believes Sunday’s Game 4 of the PBA Governors’ Cup Finals could define Barangay Ginebra’s chances of winning the title at the expense of TNT.
“It could be a pivotal game for us, if we get it,” Brownlee said as the Gin Kings go for a commanding 3-1 lead over the Tropang Giga at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Only once did a team was able to come back after dropping the fourth game of a best-of-seven series to fall in that said deficit, with Ginebra’s counterparts from the 1991 First Conference pulling off the trick by defeating Shell.
Ginebra took the series’ third game on Friday with a 117-103 win as Brownlee brought back his shooting touch on his way to 29 points.
Jamie Malonzo and Stanley Pringle were also key for Ginebra, and Brownlee hopes everyone will again be on the same page to put TNT in dire straits.
“We don’t want to get back and forth like, they get a game, we get a game and make it a game,” he said.
“Hopefully this Game 4, we can come out aggressive, set the tone early and try to get away with a win,” added Brownlee.
A victory also gives Ginebra some comfort and an opportunity to rest on a positive note going into Game 5 which will be played on Wednesday.
That will turn out into a potential clincher should Ginebra get the result it wants on Sunday.
“It would be big for us, especially being that it’s a couple of days after [Game 4],” he said.
