Jake Paul got his training camp off to a hilarious start when he ‘beat up’ rapper Kill Jasper in a $10,000 sparring session.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer is currently in Puerto Rico preparing to face UFC legend Nate Diaz in his first fight since losing to boxer Tommy Fury in February.
Paul will square off against Diaz in Utah on August 5 before targeting a rematch with Tyson Fury’s little brother who survived a late knockdown to win their highly-anticipated grudge match.
Despite being involved in a must-win fight, ‘The Problem Child’ doesn’t seem to be feeling the pressure as he recently took time away from serious training to mess about with one of his friends who wondered how long he’d last in the ring with Paul.
The 26-year-old was sure Kill Jasper – real name Demaurae Rondelle Nichols – wouldn’t make it more than 45 seconds and promised him $10,000 if he somehow managed to pull it off.
Paul chased his opponent around the ring before landing a stiff jab that sent him tumbling into the turnbuckle as he fell through the ropes while everyone in the gym laughed.
The hip-hop star quickly bounced back to his feet but showed no interest in fighting Paul as he ran around the ring and even raised his foot to keep the 6-1 boxer at bay.
A body shot somehow led to him landing face-first on the canvas, resulting in his sparring partner keeling over as he and those filming the four-figure showdown burst into hysterics.
Another punch to the liver led to Kill Jasper rolling out of the ring before he got back in, threw a few punches, did a forward roll, and ultimately got stopped by Paul.
It’s not clear exactly how long he lasted but it’s safe to assume he didn’t earn $10,000 for his performance as Paul jokingly said, ‘Thanks for taking it easy on me.’
He will soon ship in serious sparring partners to prepare for Diaz who is regarded by many as one of the best boxers MMA has produced.
Two-weight world champion Andre Ward often used Diaz to prepare for opponents throughout his perfect 32-fight career that came to an end in 2017.
WBC super-lightweight champion Regis Prograis has also sparred with the UFC fan favourite and has previously spoken with glee about the gym war they shared.
Dana White, who looked after Diaz’s career for many years in the UFC and who has found himself in a war of words with Paul, wasn’t willing to comment on the fight.
“I don’t want to s*** on other people’s fights like Oscar De La Weirdo (Hoya).
“I don’t want to talk about the fight. First of all, neither guy is my guy.
“There’s just no need for me to comment on it or whatever.”
He was hoping, though, they make a load of money from it.
“I wish them the best, I hope they make a zillion dollars.”
