Southwest Airlines is grounding flights across the U.S. because of what the carrier called “intermittent technology issues.”
In tweets replying to frustrated travelers who said they were stranded on airport runways, Southwest said it “had to implement a ground stop as a result of intermittent issues that were experienced.”
“As of now, we do not have a time frame for when this will be resolved,” the airline said in a separate tweet.
The Federal Aviation Administration told CBS News that Southwest on Tuesday morning “requested” that the agency pause the airline’s departures.
This is a developing story. CBS News’ Kathryn Krupnik contributed reporting.
