Aussie influencer, Emma Claiir, has stunned followers after admitting on her most recent podcast, Simply Chaotic, that she killed two cats as a child.
Multiple brands, who were previously in collaboration with the influencer, have since spoken out against Claiirs actions, announcing they would axe her as a brand ambassador.
Claiir co-hosts the Simply Chaotic podcast, confessing on Tuesday: “I killed my cat … My sister did not speak to me for months and my mum was f***ing fuming at me, and yeah, I killed it.”
She went on: “And then, if you really want to know more about me, I also killed my best friend’s cat.” Leaving fans, and co-host Kristy Jean, in utter disbelief.
The influencer was met with swift backlash, prompting a bizarre response in which she told her 160k followers to “chill”, palming the horror story as “a bit of light humour,” and “If you can’t handle that then simply chaotic ain’t for you. So byeeeee.”
Unsurprisingly, Claiir’s response wasn’t taken well.
Several major brands have since dropped the influencer, including Australian cosmetic brand McoBeauty, who announced on their socials they “will no longer be working with Emma in the future.”
Princess Polly has also revealed they will no longer be working with the influencer, writing on Instagram: “We’d like to assure you Princess Polly has a zero-tolerance stance on any form of animal abuse… we don’t have any plans to collaborate with Emma in the future.”
Vegan beauty brand, Lust Minerals, was another to immediately drop the influencer, explaining in a statement on Instagram: “Lust Minerals does not condone animal cruelty of any kind. We stand by our values – our products are cruelty free and are vegan certified. As a company, we take matters like this very seriously and have therefore made the decision to end all activity with Emma Claiir.”
Further backlash prompted another apology from Claiir on Instagram, this time more sincere.
“I am well aware that the story was not light humour and in fact very serious. It was not intended to come across the way that it did as it was simply just a story from the past about an accident that was made as a little kid, but I can see how it has come across like that.”
She concluded her statement: “Again I deeply apologise for those effected (sic) by an accident that happened in the past and I hope we can leave it there.”
A far cry from the influencer’s initial response.
The news comes just days after Claiir gave birth to her first-born child, Jett-Jones, with partner Aaron Mugica.
