The incident happened in fourth over of the innings when Iyer tried to nudge a short and quick Anrich Nortje’s delivery but it got a thick outside edge which flew away straight towards Mitchell Marsh who grabbed a sharp catch at a well-positioned solitary wide slip.
Iyer scored a 51-ball 104 in a losing cause against Mumbai Indians in KKR’s last match while on Thursday he faced only two balls before being dismissed for a duck.
Earlier, DC captain David Warner won the toss and opted to bowl against KKR in the IPL match, which was delayed by an hour due to rain.
