When it was first announced that Twitter was getting rid of “legacy checkmarks,” LeBron James made it known that he wouldn’t pay to keep his verification badge.
“Welp guess my blue check will be gone soon cause if you know me I ain’t paying the 5 [dollars],” James tweeted on March 31.
While most legacy checkmarks have been removed from Twitter this Thursday afternoon, James’ checkmark remains.
This has led many people to believe that James is actually subscribed to Twitter Blue despite saying he wouldn’t budge.

If you click on the verification badge on James’ page, it says “This account is verified because they are subscribed to Twitter Blue and verified their phone number.”
It’s highly unlikely James comments on this situation. He usually stays off social media during the playoffs for obvious reasons.
