A greasy, dirty oven and hob not only looks unsightly, it can make an entire house smell whenever it is in use. This will also result in the food being cooked inside the oven absorbing the fumes which could cause a bad taste. With this in mind, a Mrs Hinch fan took to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips and Tricks page on Facebook to share with the group how she cleaned her whole oven with one item – dishwasher tablets.
Vicki Cannon wrote: “So I did it! I bought the cheapest dishwasher tablets I could find (Morrisons own make) and cleaned my entire oven and hob with them, took less than 30 minutes to do the whole thing.
“I had tried elbow grease spray, pink stuff, Cif oven cleaner and others alike before.
“Nothing cleaned the oven door, I couldn’t see through it. Now it’s almost like new, the whole oven and hob and door. Thank you to this page.
“Also, please remember to wear gloves when doing this as you don’t want prolonged contact with skin from the dishwasher tablets.”

The post received over a staggering 280 comments and 902 likes. Eager to know more about the cleaning tips, fellow group members took to the comments sections to ask Vicki questions.
Cheryl Simmonds said: “I’ve seen this hack a few times and I’m dying to try it. How did you do it all please?
“Did you just go over everywhere with just the tablet or do you do something with the tablet?”
Replying to the comment, Vicki wrote: “Yes, you need to give it a go. Dishwasher tablets have been game changing when it’s time to clean my oven.
“I just sprayed hot water inside and on the door and on hob then scrubbed around with the dishwasher tablets.
“I used the tablets then wiped all over with a clean wet sponge to essentially rinse it off then wiped all around with kitchen towel.”
Debbie Fisher asked: “Might be a daft question, I’ve not checked all comments, but do you have to dampen the tables first? Or is it like the iron/paracetamol hack and you rub on whilst still warm/hot?”
Vicki responded: “I sprayed hot water around first then rubbed the dishwasher tablet around the wet surfaces (the door, inside oven and hob).

“It took zero effort and was done so quickly. I then wiped all around with a wet sponge to sort of rinse it all then dried it with a kitchen towel.”
After one woman in the comments claimed the job can be tackled with an oven cleaning spray, Vicki found that she had no luck when she used a product like that.
She said: “Aw I’ve tried everything before to clean the door and nothing worked, this is amazing and literally no effort either.
“I figured if it worked on the door, I could do the whole oven with it and it’s worked brilliantly.”
One Mrs Hinch fan claimed that She didn’t see any results when using this method. However, Vicki suggested that he may have not been using the right ones.
Gaynor Daniels said: “I tried Tesco dishwasher tablets, it barely budged anything.” Vicki commented: “Maybe try the Morrisons ones, they were only £3 for 30!
“Honestly it took no effort at all, and my oven is eight years old and the door has been like that for years, it’s driven me mad because nothing ever worked on it! I couldn’t believe how easy this was.”
As dishwasher tablets retail at Morrisons for £3 for a pack of 30, this works out to 10p per tablet. This kitchen item can also be picked up from Sainsbury’s for £3 for a pack of 30.
