MORGAN HILL – A Morgan Hill boy has been arrested on suspicion of bringing a gun to school, police said.
Around 10:40 a.m. Monday, a school resource officer responded to a report of a fight involving two students, one of whom possibly had a firearm, at Central High School, located at 85 Tilton Ave., the Morgan Hill Police Department said in a statement.
The potentially armed student left the campus, but officers found him a short time later on Monterey Road at Peebles Avenue, police said.
Officers found a loaded 9mm ghost gun during a search of the boy. Ghost guns are often assembled from kits, lack serial numbers and are sold without background checks, making them difficult to trace, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Police said the student was booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall for felony weapons violations, grand theft, criminal threats, vandalism and disruption of school services.
Anyone with information related to the case can contact Officer Greg Dini at 669-253-4965.
