Dante Exum body slammed in wild basketball brawl

Boomer Dante Exum has launched a scathing attack over the midgame WWE-style body slam that reverberated across the globe.

The gun Aussie was picked up and driven into the court by former Boston Celtic Guerschon Yabusele during game two of Partizan Belgrade’s EuroLeague playoff series with Real Madrid.

Exum, on Thursday, after Madrid came back to win the series 3-2, slammed the Spanish club for controlling the media narrative in the wake of the ugly incident, took aim at the EuroLeague over its lenient sanctions and revealed Yabusele, who issued an apology on his Instagram, had not done so in person.

Dante Exum was picked up and slammed to the ground by Guerschon Yabusele.

“I think it’s funny how they controlled the narrative and story,” Exum told Basketnews.com.

“They came out in the media with all the apologies.

“I didn’t get one apology straight from Yabusele.

“It just shows how they are.

“I think I even would have felt a little bit better about the situation if he even tried to apologise or do anything.

“But they did it through the media.”

Several players from both teams were fined or suspended following the ugly all-in melee and Exum, who suffered an injured toe and left the stadium on crutches, added to the chorus of respected basketball voices who panned the five-game ban imposed on Yabusele.

“I think everyone that plays basketball and saw the film knows that the punishment wasn’t tough enough,” the 27-year-old said.

“I think everyone is shocked.

“We are not playing WWE.

“I guess EuroLeague sucked it up and gave them light suspensions.”

While it is now out of the EuroLeague, Partizan’s Adriatic Basketball Association playoff campaign remains alive and will be Exum’s focus until the bronzed Boomer heads down under in August to press his case for selection in the Australian World Cup team
