The NBA on TNT can sometimes act more like talk radio than an analysis show, but while host Ernie Johnson tolerates a lot, Charles Barkley seemed to get on his nerves last night.

At halftime of last night’s game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors, Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal starting laughing at the sight of Anthony Davis in a wheelchair after being diagnosed with a concussion. The two kept the jokes up for a full minute and during that time Johnson started to appear frustrated with the direction of the banter.

At one point, Barkley pantomimed being in a wheelchair, which seemed to set Johnson off.

“Man, guys. Come on now,” Johnson said, in a rare – albeit slight – admonishment of Barkley and the NBA on TNT crew.

That nudge to get back on track seemed to do the trick as Barkley settled down and resumed his analysis after about a minute and a half of joking around.

Whether Ernie Johnson was just trying to “settle the class down” or took real offense to the conversation that was going on, it’s clear that he’s the man in charge.

There’s probably nobody else on earth who can corral Sir Charles and Shaq the way he can.
