Hogwarts Legacy Has Been Delayed To November on Nintendo Switch

Hogwarts Legacy has been officially delayed on Nintendo Switch and will release on the hybrid console a few months after its original July 25th release date.

With a new message shared on the game’s Official Twitter profile, it has been confirmed that the open-world game based on the Wizarding World will launch on Nintendo Switch on November 14th. As the developer knows many are looking forward to playing the game on the Switch, creating the best possible experience remains the team’s top priority, so it definitely sounds like the game has been delayed for additional polish.

Getting Hogwarts Legacy to run on the Nintendo Switch’s underpowered hardware must be a challenge, but Avalanche Software proved they are more than capable of taking advantage of older hardware to deliver a solid experience, as the game runs surprisingly well on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, despite them both being much weaker than current generation consoles. Other developers also proved that getting massive open-world games to run on Nintendo’s console is more than possible, such as Saber Interactive with The Witcher 3, so hopefully, playing Hogwarts Legacy on the console will be every bit as enjoyable as playing on the other consoles and PC.

And being fun is one of the things that Hogwarts Legacy does best, despite an open-world design that is definitely by the books, as highlighted by Chris in his review of the PC version of the game.

So, long story short, I like Hogwarts Legacy and its story, but there are certainly some issues if you don’t turn your brain off. While I’m rounding up, I should also say that once the game launched and I downloaded the update, the performance seemed to plummet on occasion. While I already saw a little slowdown when using Lumos, I started to see it even more, sometimes even when not using the spell. Performance-wise, I’m still not overly down on it, but there is room for improvement.

Hogwarts Legacy is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One worldwide. The game will launch on Nintendo Switch on November 14th worldwide.
