Could Jeff Bezos keep Lauren Sanchez satisfied with just $1 million a year?

Having Jeff Bezos, the world’s third-richest man, propose marriage has reportedly left Lauren Sanchez as giddy as a “Bachelorette,” with friends telling People that she’s living her “dream come true” and found the man she “wants to spend the rest of her life with.”

But with this marriage being the second for both Bezos and Sanchez, the middle-aged lovebirds know that happily ever may not happen and that Bezos can’t possibly share a lot of his entire net worth, estimated to be about $138.9 billion by Forbes, with his new wife — however much she may be his “alive girl.”

In fact, a prenup is likely to limit Sanchez’s access to Bezos’s money in the event a divorce, with one top attorney telling Page Six she might only bring in around $1 million a year, for “every year married.” Apparently, this amount, and setting a fixed payment schedule tied to the length of a marriage, is pretty standard when it comes to prenups for high-net-worth individuals, said Brett Ward, a New York City-based matrimonial and family law attorney.

The Amazon founder could also throw in a multimillion-dollar home, Ward said. If Sanchez were to agree to a payment schedule, she would have to waive claims to his assets, as well as the request for spousal support, Ward explained.

“He can be sufficiently generous to her financially while at the same time saving the cost of an extended, costly, and likely public trial if the marriage does not work out,” Ward said.

If Ward were representing Sanchez, he told Page Six he would advocate for her to receive assets “sufficient to provide a comfortable lifestyle for her and her (children).” Sanchez shares a son, in his 20s, with NFL player Tony Gonzales and a teenage son and daughter with her ex-husband, Hollywood talent mogul Patrick Whitesell.

But in the world of the ultra-rich, $1 million a year somehow doesn’t sound that “generous,” especially if the former TV personality wants to continue to enjoy the lifestyle to which she has become accustomed since she and Bezos went public with their romance in 2019.

After all, Bezos is “the richest groom in history,” according to another Page Six report. He proposed marriage to Sanchez while cruising around the Mediterranean with her on Koru, his new $500 million mega-yacht. To encourage Sanchez to say yes, he presented her with a 20-carat diamond ring, worth an estimated $2.5 million, which she was seen flashing around at celebrity parties at the Cannes Film Festival.

The founder of the Blue Origin aerospace company also paid an unusual tribute to his “alive girl.” He decorated the prow of his yacht with a sculpture of a “curvaceous winged goddess,” a figurehead that bears a striking resemblance to Sanchez.

Meanwhile, Bezos also has invited Sanchez to enjoy life with him in his multiple mansions and estates, including a $177 million spread in Beverly Hills, a five-floor penthouse in Manhattan and a new, 14-acre, 78 Hawaiian getaway, Page Six said. With Blue Origin, he’s promised to let her and an all-female crew into space in 2024.

In addition, the business tycoon owns two Gulfstream jets and a second yacht, a $75 million ship that’s known as “a support vessel.” Its only purpose is to follow the Koru around and to provide a helipad where Sanchez, a trained helicopter pilot, can land one of her two helicopters.

These aircraft are among the assets that Sanchez brings to the marriage, according to Page Six. In her own right, she owns her own “multimillion-dollar business,” Black Ops Aviation, which reportedly pairs her love of flying helicopters and TV journalism into making aerial video, Page Six said. She also owns a $6.2 million home — modest by Bezos standards — in Washington state. She and her ex-husband Whitesell purchased the home together in 2017 — a year before Sanchez and Bezos reportedly embarked on what was a secret affair.

The intense focus on a prenup for Bezos and Sanchez is mostly due to the fact that Bezos and his first wife, Mackenzie Scott, didn’t have one. They married in 1994, just when he was starting Amazon in his garage in Seattle and turned it into a fledgling online bookstore. Bezos and Scott divorced in 2019 after 25 years of marriage, shortly after his affair with Sanchez was reveled in the National Enquirer.

Because there was no prenup, Bezos had to part with a sizable portion of his assets, transferring 4% of Amazon stock to Scott, which was valued at $38 billion at the time. However, he remained one of the richest people on the planet after the divorce and presumably wants to stay that way if things don’t work out with Sanchez.
