Prannoy continued his rich vein of form as he booked his semi-final berth after a hard-fought win against Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto. The Indian defeated the Japanese shuttler 25-23, 18-21, 21-13 in the quarter-final that lasted for an hour and 31 minutes.

In the earlier rounds, the Prannoy came from a game down to stun sixth seeded Chou Tien-chen of Chinese Taipei in the opening round by 16-21, 21-14, 21-13 followed by a second round victory in similar fashion against China’s Li Shi Feng by 13-21, 21-16, 21-11.

Adinata, on the other hand, came from a game down to defeat Prannoy’s compatriot Kidambi Srikanth in a closely contested match to reach the semi-final. The Indonesian shuttler defeated the Indian 16-21, 21-16, 21-11 in the quarter-final match that lasted for 57 minutes.

In the earlier rounds, the useeded Indonesian claimed straight game win over Thailand’s Kantaphon Wangcharoen by a scoreline of 21-16, 21-17 before easing past Denmark’s Magnus Johannessen by 21-16, 21-14 scoreline in the second round.
