Shubman Gill hammered a 60-ball 129, which is the highest IPL score from a Gujarat Titans player, propelling his team to a massive 233/3. The extremely talented India batter slammed his third century of the season and claimed the Orange Cap.
Later, pacer Mohit Sharma picked up a sensational five-fer in the middle and death overs to help GT restrict Mumbai Indians to 171 in 18.2 overs in front of 75,677 spectators at the biggest cricket ground in the world.
It was Gill’s last Century in the competition which helped Mumbai Indians qualify for the playoffs as GT defeated RCB in the last league game. The 23-year-old cricketer slammed his next century, after a blip in Qualifier 1, and knocked MI out of the competition.

Qualifier 1: MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings defeated Gujarat Titans by 15 runs in Qualifier 1 after posting a respectable 172 for 7. In the run chase of 173, Gujarat Titans were bundled out for 157 in 20 overs in Chennai. Ravindra Jadeja was named the player of the match.
Eliminator: In the Eliminator between Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants, which MI won by 81 runs. Naveen-ul-Haq did well with the ball as LSG restricted Mumbai Indians to 182/8 in 20 overs. But in response, MI pacer Akash Madhwal returned with figures of 5/5 to bundle LSG out for 101 at Chepauk. Madhwal was named the player of the match.
Qualifier 2: In the high-stakes Qualifier 2 between two rampaging teams i.e. Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians as the action shifted to Ahmedabad. Gill’s sublime knock alongside Sai Sudharshan helped GT post a massive total and helped GT claim a big win by 62 runs.
In-form Suryakumar Yadav played yet another sensational knock with a brilliant fifty that kept MI in the hunt but once he was dismissed by Mohit Sharma, the floodgates were opened. The Haryana pacer went on to grab his maiden fifer to take GT to a massive win. Gill was named player of the match for slamming one of the finest centuries in IPL history.
