Dhoni, India’s most successful white-ball captain, has led CSK to the final of IPL 2023 for the record-extending 10th time. A win against Gujarat Titans (GT) will see the side win their record-equalling fifth IPL title to go at par with Mumbai Indians (MI).

“He has been playing IPL for 15 years. Why is it that we are only talking about Dhoni? He has done his work. What more do we want from him? Do we want him to play all his life? That is not going to happen,” Kapil told ABP News as rain delayed the IPL 2023 final clash between CSK and GT on Sunday.
“We should instead be thankful that he played for 15 years. Whether he plays next year or not, before departing he has played impressively. He may not have scored big runs but he led the team to the final and it shows what is the importance of a skipper in the game of cricket,” he added.
Dhoni has played 10 IPL finals (excluding the IPL 2023 final) – the most by any player in IPL history. He is three sixes shy of becoming the player to hit most maximums in IPL finals. He himself has played down questions around his IPL future.
“I don’t know. I have 8-9 months to decide. The small auction will be around December. So why to take that headache right now? I have ample time to decide. But, I will always be there for CSK, whether it’s in the playing form or sitting somewhere outside,” MS Dhoni said after Qualifier 1.
Despite multiple injury concerns and limited resources, Dhoni has marshalled his troops beautifully in the IPL 2023. The IPL 2023 final has been rescheduled to Monday (reserve day) as the match was abandoned due to rain on Sunday.
