The Elevate, a compact SUV, comes following the Indian market’s not-so-encouraging response to the earlier Honda SUVs such as CR-V, WR-V and BR-V.
Honda Elevate will compete for market share in India’s cut-throat SUV market with the likes of Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, VW Taigun, MG Astor, Hyundai Creta, etc.
Bookings for Elevate will open in July.
Honda will seek to make India an export hub for the Elevate, the company said.
Elevate is marked by features like a bold exterior design and a thick body. It has the signature Honda grille. The body is made of high tensile steel. The SUV’s interiors are spacious and there is enough legroom for rear-seat passengers. The new product features an advanced 10.25 inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Honda Elevate has a 1.5-litre DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine. It can produce 121 PS of power and 145.1 Nm torque.
Safety features include Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Watch, rear-seat minder, parking sensor, Honda Sense, etc., apart from emergency stop signal, the company said.
