As seen on the latest episode of Dynamite, Adam Cole positioned himself as the next challenger for AEW World Championship held by MJF. However, to secure the title match, he’d have to overcome one final challenge.
As announced by the AEW, Adam Cole will take on MJF on next week’s Dynamite episode in a Championship Eliminator match. If Cole can win in this non-title bout then he will get to the title match.
Given a new feud has just kicked off between these two top AEW wrestlers, a title match is bound to happen. As of this writing, we assume, the upcoming Forbidden Door event is the most likely option to have that match on the card.
MJF returned on this week’s AEW Dynamite for the first time since 2023 Double or Nothing to get involved in a heated war of words with Cole. The champion blasted his potential challenger for leaving the WWE.
Cole fired back with the notion that MJF is a champion who can only pit fire on the mic rather than defending his belt inside the squared circle. An irate MJF then quickly agreed to take on him in the non-title match.
Next week, if Cole can secure the win and a title match, it will mark MJF’s fourth title defense since winning the belt at last year’s Full Gear PPV event in November by defeating Jon Moxley.
His most recent title defense went down at Double or Nothing on May 29 where he defeated AEW’s three other pillars, Darby Allin, Sammy Guevera, and Jack Perry in a four-way match to retain.
As of this writing, Cole vs. MJF non-title bout is the only match set for next week’s Dynamite while multiple matches for this week’s Rampage have been announced including a huge number-one contender’s match.
Four top AEW female wrestlers will battle it out for the next opportunity at the AEW Women’s World Championship held by Britt Baker. Two more matches are confirmed which keeps the current Rampage June 9 episode match card as given below:
