‘India top order should look at Babar..’ Ex-England captain’s brutal advice to batters after WTC Final loss

It was a dismal outing from the Indian batters in the WTC Final as they fell to a 209-run defeat against Australia at the Oval. Both innings saw a miserable batting collapse as big names like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and co. failed to stamp their authority.

The Indian batters gave their wickets away playing some abysmal shots, whereas Australian batters like Steve Smith, Travis Head applied themselves in a different manner. Rohit Sharma was caught in front by Nathan Lyon during an attempted sweep, whereas Virat Kohli gifted his wicket away by playing an awful shot way outside the off stump.

But it was India’s batting collapse in the first innings which took the game away from them. The star-studded batting lineup was tottering at 70 odd runs for 4 as top guns like Rohit, Kohli, Pujara and Gill all departed cheaply.

Gill and Pujara got dismissed in a horrendous manner. They left alone balls which went on to hit the stumps, leaving them bamboozled in the crease.

Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma advised to look at Babar Azam

And former England captain Nasser Hussain was disappointed with the Indian batters. He felt the way the big players applied themselves while facing a moving ball was not right and advised them to have a look at Pakistan batter Babar Azam or New Zealand batter Kane Williamson’s way of tackling swing.

“Really disappointed with the Indian batters, their fans might come after me for saying this but I think Indian top order needs to look at Babar and Kane on how to play the pacers when the ball is moving around. Both of them do it so late,” Nasser said while speaking to Sky Sports.
