PLEASANTON — The annual Alameda County Fair makes its galloping return to Pleasanton this weekend, bringing with it decadent food, carnival rides and a concert series that will feature Ashanti and Bay Area legend E-40.
The fair, which opens at noon Friday and runs through July 9 at the Alameda County Fairgrounds, will also feature live horse races, drone shows, animals, exhibits, pig races and a family-friendly “Movies on the Lawn” series, showing such as films as “Madagascar” and “Coco.”
Fairgoers on Sunday, June 18, can also take in the Pride-themed celebration “Out at the Fair,” which will feature a performance by hip-hop soul artist Erica Ambrin and The Eclectic Soul Project.
Here’s the full lineup of nightly concerts, which begin at 8. Tickets are required for floor and club reserved seating; bleacher seats are free with general admission fair tickets:

The fair runs Wednesdays through Sundays from noon to 11 p.m. and will be open July 3-4 (noon-8 p.m. July 4). General admission tickets will be sold online in advance and on-site, $15-$18; concerts $15-$25; ride packages sold on-site beginning June 16, $37-$42; parking $15. The fairgrounds are at 2005 Valley Ave.
