Outlander is returning to STARZ and Lionsgate+ this week with season seven containing eight episodes.
Claire Fraser star Caitriona Balfe addressed the challenges that came with filming, some of which took place during the coronavirus pandemic.
She paid tribute to Mark Lewis Jones, who plays Tom Christie in the series, and the “beautiful” scenes they had together.
“There is quite a bit of challenging stuff this season that I can’t talk about, which is really frustrating,” she said.
“I had stuff with Mark Lewis Jones at the start of the season which wasn’t necessarily a challenge, but it was beautiful material to get to work with.

“And Mark is such an incredible actor. It was stuff that you just get to sink your teeth into,” she continued to Digital Spy.
One challenge she did have to face was singing Ave Maria in one of the episodes, claiming singing is “not my forte”.
She added: “That was quite nerve-wracking, especially when they were like, ‘We’re just going to film that a cappella, as you’re walking along’.
“I was like, ‘Okay, can I speed-dial a vocal coach?'”
Outlander season six ended with some big cliffhangers and viewers will be expecting answers in season seven.
Claire was imprisoned in Wilmington and could be put on trial for the murder of Tom Christie’s daughter, Malva (Jessica Reynolds).
If she is found guilty, she would be sentenced to be hanged in a heartbreaking twist.
This is not the first time the Claire actress has sung the praises of her co-star Mark as last year, she called him “soulful”.
Speaking to Gold Derby, she said: “Working with Mark was fantastic, he is just the most soulful, darling man.
“He has so much heart, he’s so talented that doing scenes with him you’re just blown away by what he brings to that character.
“That’s the thing with Tom, I love how when Claire first meets him it’s just like ‘who is this annoying, pompous, pious.’”
