After weeks of speculation, the NBA has made a decision on Grizzlies star Ja Morant.
According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the NBA has suspended Morant 25 games for the 2023-24 season.
Earlier this month, NBA commissioner Adam Silver commented on Morant’s behavior off the court.
“We’ve uncovered a fair amount of additional information,” Silver said. “We probably could have brought it to a head now, but we’ve made the decision that it would be unfair to these players and these teams to announce that decision in the middle of this series.”
Those comments led many people to believe Morant would be suspended for a significant period of time. At this moment, a 25-game suspension doesn’t feel like a severe punishment.

It’s worth noting that ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski said Morant’s suspension will come with conditions for his return.
Morant has already issued an apology for his recent behavior. At the end of the day though, his words will feel empty until he backs them up with actions.
Hopefully, this suspension will serve as a wake-up call for Morant.
