Intel announces a significant update to its client compute branding
Furthermore, Intel says that it is updating the Intel Core processor branding for mainstream client offerings. The chipmaker is moving to Intel 3/5/7 naming structure and is dropping the ‘i’ that was included in prior generation branding. These changes will be reflected in brand strings, text, and on the badge.
The company is introducing Intel Evo Edition platform branding for Evo-certified systems and Intel vPro Enterprise and vPro Essentials device labels for relevant commercial systems. The new client branding begins with Intel’s upcoming Meteor Lake processors.
Why this matters?
- According to Intel, the Meteor Lake represents an inflection point in Intel’s client processor roadmap.
- This will be the first client processor manufactured on the new Intel 4 processor node.
- This is the first client chipset design enabled by Foveros advanced 3D packaging technology and will deliver improved power efficiency and graphics performance.
- This is also the first Intel client processor to feature a dedicated AI engine: Intel AI Boost.
The new branding structure is designed for Intel’s future client technology roadmap. Intel believes that these changes will make it easier for customers to identify the right client solutions from Intel’s partner ecosystem for their computing needs.
