A quintessential part of the British seaside experience, some of the UK’s best beach towns have incredible piers.
But according to Tripadvisor reviewers, one British pier is the best in the UK and has been described as “lovely”.
Brighton Palace Pier topped the rankings based on reviews with an average score of four out of five stars.
At 1,722 feet long, the pier is packed with activities and is so long repainting it takes around three months every year.
The stunning pier is Grade II listed and according to World Atlas, it’s also the sixth most famous on the planet.
A reviewer ‘KikitheNerdfighter’ said: “A lovely pier. Free to walk down which makes a nice change, beautiful views of the beach from here and some nice little shops selling your usual tourist goods.”
‘Sandra W’ said: “Sunny pier afternoon. Lovely fun afternoon on the pier with my hen group! Had fish and chips.”
‘Oscar’ said: “A very nice pier, clean and tidy and well cared for. It has everything you would want for a British seaside but it comes at a cost!”
Brighton Palace Pier is free to explore but tourists will have to pay to use the arcades or go on any of the rides.
Visitors can grab a meal at the Palm Court restaurant and bar which has panoramic views of the coastline.
Away from the pier, tourists can relax on Brighton’s stoney beach and grab some fish and chips from the promenade.
Brighton’s top-rated attraction is the Royal Pavilion, which was built as a seaside retreat for King George IV.
Brighton’s Lanes are also highly rated and tourists will find a treasure trove of boutiques and cafes.
Children might enjoy the Sea Life aquarium while Brighton is also a popular hen and stag party destination.
