Mikel Arteta is facing a hectic month with decisions to be made over the futures of both former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and record signing Nicolas Pepe.
With the January transfer window now just days away, Aubameyang’s future remains up in the air after being stripped of the captain’s armband – but Arteta has hinted there could be a way back to the first team for the Gabon international.
Arteta has also opened up about record signing Nicolas Pepe’s unhappiness at not being given enough first-team minutes this season.
And reported target Renato Sanches has made his feelings clear about a move to the Gunners.

Sanches makes feelings clear
Reported Arsenal target Renato Sanches insists he is “ready” if the Gunners make moves to sign the midfielder in January.
The Lille midfielder, who burst onto the scene for his country Portugal at Euro 2016 – the same year as he won the Golden Boy award – has been linked with a move next month.
Telefoot [via Teamtalk ] reports Sanches could be available for £25million in next month’s January transfer window and is said to have a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ is in place to be able to leave France if a big side comes in with an offer for him.
And the player has made his stance perfectly clear ahead of what could be a huge month for him professionally.

Nicolas Pepe ‘unhappy’
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has opened up on Nicolas Pepe’s unhappiness at his current situation at Arsenal.
Pepe became Arsenal’s record signing when he arrived from Lille in 2019 for £72million but has struggled for game time this season.
But the Ivorian made a rare start in the Carabao Cup quarter-final tie against Sunderland midweek and impressed as he bagged a goal and two assists as the Gunners coasted to a 5-1 win.
And Arteta has now spoken about the player’s attitude and unhappiness at not playing more.

Aubameyang could get second chance
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could get be handed a second chance and allowed back into the first-team fold, boss Mikel Arteta has hinted.
Aubameyang has found himself banished from the first team following the disciplinary breach that also led to him being stripped of the captaincy.
He has since missed the games against Southampton, West Ham, Leeds United and Sunderland and has reportedly been training alone.
But it appears there could be a road back to redemption for the striker, despite reports linking him with a move away from the Emirates Stadium in January.
