The former WWE Champion has been absent from WWE programming since a triple-threat Intercontinental Title match at WrestleMania with Sheamus and GUNTHER. Money in the Bank’s placement in the UK seemed adjacent to his TV return.
However, his on-screen absence may continue through tonight’s PLE as PW Insider Elite reports the return could be stuck due to creative choice. The Scottish Warrior hasn’t been spotted in London, either which wipes out chances of his return.
Reports emerged around WrestleMania that the Scottish Warrior’s contract situation with the WWE deteriorated and that no new deal had been reached. As a result, he was expected to leave WWE and join AEW in time for their UK show All In.
Another major star Charlotte Flair is also expected to miss Money in the Bank as a report from PWInsider claimed that there was a pitch thrown out for Flair to replace Zelina Vega’s place in the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match.
However, as seen on Friday’s SmackDown taping, no such angle was shown regarding Flair. Rather, Asuka defeated The Queen via DQ to retain the WWE Women’s Championship, after Bianca Belair interfered and attacked Asuka.
In this case, Flair will miss two consecutive Money in the Bank pay-per-view events. Last year, she was out of action during this timespan after marrying fellow wrestler Andrade El Idolo in May 2022.
The same source also provided an update regarding the main event of Money in the Bank 2023. Apparently, WWE is planning to host Cody Rhodes vs. Dominik Mysterio for the headliner spot at the premium live event in London, England.
As reported earlier, Brock Lesnar is scheduled to make his return and interfere in this match at Money in the Bank to set up the last match of his trilogy against The American Nightmare at SummerSlam 2023 in early August.
Here’s what WRKD Wrestling previously reported about the top feud from Raw on Twitter, “Brock Lesnar is expected to appear at Money In The Bank to set up a third, gimmick match with Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam.”
Rhodes and Lesnar are currently standing 1-1 against each other. Cody won at Backlash, while Brock passed him out at Night of Champions. Their third bout at Summerslam is speculated to be a unique Strap or Bullrope Match.
