The Toronto Raptors will look like a different team next season.
The Eastern Conference team parted ways with head coach Nick Nurse, who lead the team to an NBA championship in 2019, after the season. And during free agency the team failed to retain Fred VanVleet, landing a three-year max deal with Houston Rockets.
Now it sounds like two-time All-Star Pascal Siakam could be the next core member to depart from the organization, according to Michael Grange if sportsnet.com.
“There is persistent speculation that Pascal Siakam — the team’s leading scorer, second-most prolific playmaker and ultimate home-grown success story — could be traded before the regular season starts and perhaps much sooner as the NBA’s transaction market simmers.”
Siakam, 29, has one-year left on his contract.
During his seven seasons in Toronto, Siakam averaged 17.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists on 49 percent shooting from the field and 32.7 percent from long distance.
