St Mirren sweating over fitness of Greg Kiltie after ankle knock

St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson is concerned over an injury that forced Greg Kiltie off during their 4-0 win over Arbroath.

Kiltie and Ryan Strain both went off but it is the former Kilmarnock midfielder’s injury that is causing anxiety in Paisley.

Robinson told SMTV after the Viaplay Cup win: “Greg’s a concern. He has been excellent during pre-season, a major part of what we are doing. But he has taken a knock on his ankle so we will have to assess that.

“Ryan I think will be fine. He got a kick down the back of his ankle and his foot went numb.”

Robinson, whose side face a trip to Cowdenbeath on Tuesday, added: “Keanu Baccus will hopefully be back training along with Kieran Offord, which gives us a few more options in midfield which we are a little bit light on.

“Ryan Flynn got a bang on the head on Friday and we didn’t want to take any chances.

“We are a little bit light in that area and it’s wait and see with Greg.”

Robinson saw new strikers Mikael Mandron and Stav Nahmani get off the mark as Saints bounced back from their opening defeat by Montrose.

“It could have been a lot more,” he said. “There was a lot of good stuff. We need to take more chances. We created a lot, we put a lot of crosses in for the first 20 minutes and then we stopped putting them in.

“I am never happy, even when we win. We need to keep improving, keep working on that, and take it into Tuesday night’s game.”
