Fact Check-

A keyword search on Google led us to a report published on Daily Pakistan website. According to the report, on the eve of Pakistan’s Independence Day, many Pakistanis went to Burj Khalifa to watch their national flag lighted up at Burj Khalifa. But due to some reason there was delay in the event which disappointed the people. Many shared the video and claimed that Dubai refused to hoist the flag of Pakistan at Burj Khalifa.

On August 14, a video of Pakistan’s flag being hoisted was posted on Burj Khalifa’s official Instagram account. The post said that the Burj Khalifa lighted up the Pakistan’s flag on its Independence Day. Congratulating Pakistan, it was written, “We wish the people of Pakistan a day filled with pride, unity and prosperity as you celebrate the rich heritage and achievements of your great nation.”

A social media user asked for clarification on the above video asking whether it is a recent one or an old video. To this Burj Khalifa replied that this video is from current year on 14 August. The Pakistan’s flag was lighted up at Burj Khalifa at 7.50 pm.

Conclusion:

Fact Crescendo found the claim to be misleading. Although it is true that Pakistan’s flag was not lighted up at Burj Khalifa on 14 August midnight but it was lighted up on the same day at 7.50 pm.
