The second season of Euphoria is finally here, which means that the glamourous cast is back in full, hyper-stylized, era-defining force, as deftly demonstrated on last night’s red carpet. For a photo call in Los Angeles, the actors each embraced full glam, and Hunter Schafer used the opportunity to show off a set of freshly shorn, abbreviated bangs.
“Hunter has always wanted bangs, so it was so exciting to debut on the red carpet,” says hairstylist Rena Calhoun of the moment. To provide her Prada with a more youthful feel, Calhoun opted to keep Schafer’s hair modern and sleek, pulling her pin-straight, jawline-grazing (“She’s been LOVING her short hair!”) blonde mane into a duo of half-up space buns finished with playful sprays of strands. A cherry plum, shadowed cat eye — the work of makeup artist Robert Rumsey — aided in achieving the artful effect that has become Schafer’s specialty.
For those who find themselves bang-curious (new year, new you and all), Calhoun suggests starting with something a bit longer. “Bangs are deifnitely a committment,” says Calhoun. “I think curtain bangs (fringe that sits around the cheekbone) are flattering on almost everyone, and are much easier to style.” But it’s difficult to deny: Schafer’s micro-fringe is an exquisite (and enticing) scene-stealer.
