Claire (played by Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) will soon be back on screens for another instalment of romantic adventures on Fraser’s Ridge. As the Outlander pair prepare to protect their new home in America, some new arrivals will threaten the strength of their marriage when the Starz series returns in just over a month.
Religious conflict will play a huge part in the next season of Outlander, executive producer Maril Davis has confirmed.
Although both Claire and Jamie are Catholic, their different approaches to faith have occasionally put pressure on their unlikely coupling.
Originally a WWII nurse, 20th Century Claire has slightly more relaxed views on religion compared to her Highlander husband, Jamie.
However, the arrival of the fundamentalist Presbyterian family, the Christies, could throw the Frasers’ community in Fraser’s Ridge completely out of balance.

Following the longest ‘Droughtlander’ yet, the popular Starz series will return for a limited run at the start of March.
As production has been severely restricted due to the pandemic, Outlander will be packing as much action and drama as it can over the course of the next couple of months.
Although Claire and Jamie have endured everything thrown at them so far, their relationship could face its biggest test yet when the Christies arrive on their doorstep.
Some swoon-worthy moments in the new trailer have already foreshadowed how religion will play into the next season.
Now physically healed from a terrifying attack at the end of season five, Claire manages to convince Jamie to let the Christies stay in their town.
Jamie calls his wife an “angel”, to which she responds “Would an angel do this?” before planting him with a huge kiss.
While there’s still plenty of room for steamy romance, Claire’s more relaxed attitude to welcoming different walks of life to the Ridge could prove their downfall.
Outlander season 6 premieres Sunday, March 6 on Starz in the USA and Starzplay in the UK.
