Kulusevski is not a fan of Conte’s ‘different’ tactics amid Spurs transfer talk

Tottenham target Dejan Kulusevski has previously admitted that Antonio Conte’s ‘different’ tactics have put him off working under his guidance amid new Spurs transfer talks.

Kulusevski, 21, has made 20 appearances so far for Juventus in Serie A this season, with 78 per cent of those coming from the bench.

In those 20 games, the Swede has scored one goal and assisted three and with Dusan Vlahovic having been confirmed as a Juve player on Friday evening – coupled with Juve being linked to a swoop for Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – game time may appear limited for the young versatile forward.

According to the Athletic, after the latest Luis Diaz and Adama Traore blows, the Lilywhites are looking to move on from those situations as Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici aim to save the January transfer window with a few last-minute signings.

They are reporting that Tottenham Hotspur are working on a deal to sign Kulusevski from Juventus on a loan deal, with an option to buy.

The report has reaffirmed that ‘Antonio Conte has made it clear his new side must revamp their squad if they are to challenge at the top end of the Premier League.’

If the deal for Kulusevski failed to materialise, former Chelsea flop Alvaro Morata could be given a second chance to make his name in the Premier League as Juve look to cut costs following Vlahovic’s arrival.

And if the Swede’s past comments are anything to go by, then Paratici and co may have to re-evaluate the attacking situation with the player in question not in favour of Conte’s ‘different’ tactics.

When Kulusevski was at Parma, both Juventus and Conte’s Inter MIlan were interested in acquiring his services but the versatile forward snubbed Spurs’ current manager at the time due to the ‘doubt’ he had over his managerial style and how that would affect his development and play at the time.

“[Maurizio Sarri] was nice. He put me at ease. I knew his Chelsea and his style of play,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport when reflecting on his last transfer decision in 2021.

“That’s also why I chose to play for the Bianconeri.

“With Conte, the movements are different, the tactical set-up. That was why I was in doubt.”
